Dr Who fans have been left traumatized by the new Torchwood format. They say Torchwood's script writers have been corrupted by big cash and they are terrified the same thing will happen to Dr Who.
The new series of Torchwood hit the air last Thursday night in a blaze of big guns and special effects. Usually Torchwood is a show with a tiny budget that can only afford one explosion a week, so this was a shocking event.
One angry Dr Who/Old Torchwood fan said "It was too glitzy, with too many bangs and not enough aliens."
Traditional Dr Who/Old Torchwood fans like a different alien every episode, and they like their aliens to be made out of a sink plunger and a dust bin.
The new Torchwood didn't have any aliens at all. It just had dead people who wouldn't die, even when they had been involved in suicide bomb explosion. Now, as impressive as that is, its still not aliens.
A BBC insider said that they hadn't expected this backlash. They gave Torchwood a bigger budget because they wanted it to appeal to Americans.
Irate Doctor Who fans responded by saying. "They've all gone mad at the Beeb. Eveyone knows that you never mess with the Doctor Who concept. Just look what happened to that Dr Who Film. Where is it? I can't even find a mention of it on Google."
Google were contacted to comment on this fact. They said that they had had to remove all reference to the Dr Who film because Dr Who fans found it so offensive.
Torchwood will be showing every Thursday for the next 8 to 12 weeks. Lets hope the alien count improves, or they could go the same way as that film.
