Globe trotting presenter Michael Palin has revealed that his latest in a long line of travel documentaries will be based in Brazil.
Called "Hovel To Hovel : Around The Favelas In 80 Minutes", the ex Monty Python star's newest enterprise will feature 4 x 20 minute programmes shot exclusively in Cidade de Deus, the most famous shanty town in Rio de Janeiro.
"The reason we're only doing 4 short shows in Rio is because of the general lawlessness in the shanty towns. Drugs gangs, street shootings and muggings are everyday occurrences and the sight of a group of well heeled tourists with expensive camera equipment is sure to attract its fair share of attention.
So we intend to do a quick 20 minute session and get out as fast as we can".
Of camera, Palin admitted that he was "crapping himself" at the thought of the dangers lying ahead and concluded that this project would be even scarier than the time he hang glided through the Andes with 30 feet condors nipping at his nether regions.
