Tributes have been pouring in for Blue Peter dog Lucy who died of cancer last week aged 13.

The golden retriever became an instant hit with the viewers when she first appeared on the children's show in 1999 and has remained a firm favourite ever since.

Long time editor Biddy Baxter called Lucy "a great companion who was also a real trooper", while current presenter Helen Skelton praised the dog for "always giving us plenty of notice to get the pooh bag out by farting loudly in advance".

Baxter also described the retriever as "a natural performer who possessed much more natural talent than John Noakes".

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
