News from the Entertainment world and Beatles Drummer Ringo Starr's house has been demolished. As usual though with such dealings, nothing quite went to plan.
The story has been hovering for a while and due to legal wrangling only just happened but Demolition Company 'Wreckit & Sue' confirmed today that the contract had been completed.
Managing Director of the firm Noel Wreckit has been a close friend of Ringo and he explained that Ringo had always said that once the time was right his firm would 'get the nod'.
When it was revealed that Ringo was taking a family holiday last week, and that the place would be empty, Wreckit & Sue were handed keys for his house and they set to work.
'It's a big deal because it's not every day you demolish a Beatles house', explained Mr Wreckit.
'I must admit when we got there, I thought it was bigger than on the photos, 27 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, tennis courts, ballroom, the lot. But I checked the paperwork, and there in black and white it said 'TO DEMOLISH, ONE HOUSE, BEATLES PROPERTY MR. R STARR' so away we went.'
Once the dust had settled on the vast stately home, Mr Wreckit received the chilling news that instead of demolishing the 2-up-2-down Liverpool terrace which was his boyhood home, they had instead demolished his London mansion by mistake.
Mr Wreckit lamented: 'To be fair, Ringo took it quite well when he got back.'
In a statement read out to the press, Ringo said: 'I'm not best pleased. Peace and love, peace and love.'
