Fresh on the heels of the Oscars came another award ceremony, this time to honour songs we love with daft lyrics!

It takes place every year, ironically, in the town of Daftest Lyric, just outside Boston, Massachusetts and is now in it's 15th year. Competition is always good, last years winner 'H.A.P.P.Y Radio by Edwin Starr with the lyric 'Driving home In my Car,My Happy Radio is never too far.'
I'm guessing it's just in front of you on the dashboard Edwin!

However, this years winner has been an absolute runaway success with voters, and to be fair it is a classic lyric.

'One Way Ticket' by Eruption is the one song that all miserable buggers everywhere absolutely love.
'One way ticket to the blues' (charming thought), 'Gonna take a trip to lonesome town' (why would anyone go to lonesome town), 'Gonna stay at Heartbreak Hotel' (miserable sod). 'choo choo train, tuckin down the track, never coming back,' (blimey, get the electric chair plugged in).

It really is a beauty and fully deserved this years award. Jordan, or Katie Price when she attends awards, said she 'loved the song and was planning a cover version with Dwight Yorke'. Singer and frontman Keith Eruption didn't come to collect his award however, saying he 'couldn't be arsed.'

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
