Sir Elton John and David Furnish have spoken of creating their first feature film together as "the most amazing experience".
The two multi millionaires said that they "knew people would criticise us for being too old and would say we were too selfish to see it through" but they knew deep inside that they were "totally committed to doing this wonderful thing".
"Gnomeo and Juliet" is an animated version of the Shakespeare classic and the couple had to suffer 11 years of disappointment and resistance before the project was completed.
Although their names are on the billboards as Producer and Executive Producer respectively, Sir Elton and Furnish had to use a surrogate film maker as they have no film making experience or skills of their own.
Asked if they would consider conceiving another such project in the future, Sir Elton retorted "Never say never".
