The American physician who carried out the artificial insemination procedure that resulted in Elton John and David Furnish becoming parents, says that he can not explain why the couple's son is a blue Smurf.
"It could be that hair dye of the blue rinse kind so popular with old ladies got mixed up with the sperm Elton and his husband had provided," an anonymous source told our reporter.
Elton and Furnish have not only refused to confirm to us that they had each supplied several pints of sperm to impregnate the surrogate mother, but also that the baby is a blue Smurf.
Nurses at the hospital where the baby was born did however confirm to us that the baby is indeed a Smurf.
Said one of the nurses whose name we can not reveal: "Zachary bears a close resemblance to Smurfette. He was born with a full head of cascading golden locks and his cry is high-pitched. We dressed him the way Smurfette is always dressed, in a white dress, white shoes and white nurses cap and he was for sure Smurfette. But, vow! He's like real cute!"
Smurfette is the only girl Smurf in a pack of male Smurfs.
