As the end of the hit paranormal show "Most Haunted" is announced, show creator and presenter Yvette Fielding admitted that the original intention for the show was merely to televise the games of Murder In The Dark that she and her friends and family had been enjoying.
She said yesterday" We just ran around abandoned hotels and lighthouses jumping out at each other, shouting BOO! and pulling on the back of each other's coats" The addition of cameras was her husband Karl Beattie's idea. She went on-"Karl thought it would be funny to film ourselves playing the game, then watching them back when we're drunk. "
Living TV expressed an interest in making the show for Sky Television but insisted on several changes, most notably the addition to the team of professional Murder In The Dark player Derek Acorah. Antix Productions acceded to this request as Yvette had her eye on a really nice puffy jacket.
The show's signature look was another secret revealed by Fielding. "We didn't have any night-vision equipment. It was too expensive at the time so we just painted ourselves green and wore black-out contact lenses. "
"We were shocked when the show aired. They had re-named it Most Haunted and added all this 'ghost hunting' stuff. I don't know where THAT came from. I don't believe in ghosts and all of that paranormal cobblers. I couldn't say anything though. I just had to keep my mouth shut as I had recently bought 3 Aston Martins and a helicopter"
