Apparently, Joe Simpson felt the need to defend his daughters, Ashlee and Jessica, from the media saying they're always made to look like failures.
"Just because they sometimes...well, often, act like a couple of dinks just means that our family is constantly under pressure. We are in the fishbowl and everyone's watching."
Then Joe looked around and saw he had the attention of every reporter.
"Hey, is anybody writing any of this down? We need more privacy and we won't get it unless you guys get the message."
Finally a reporter up front stated that we were using a lot of recorders.
"There you go. You and your cameras and recorders. Never a minutes peace. Hey, come back here! Well, those two will never hear the rest. It's just that people seem to want us to fail and that's not fair."
On Ashlee being let go from Melrose Place: "It was never a loss," her father says of the Melrose incident. "The world says whatever it says. Again, it always wants to make it look like we're failures but we're really just a family that works hard."
"Go get your stories elsewhere. No more publicity for my gals and me!"
He was still yelling when the rest of us went off to do some better interviews but we continued to hear words that sounded like "stoofus", "moronic acts", "never see any positive reports", "Come back here" and "Please, leave us alone!"
