Obituary: Fans around the globe were mourning the death of Tranquilizer star, Ehwah Woowah, who passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Woowah, 78, was known as the the no-nonsense tough guy who made The Tranquilizer such a hit.
The long-running TV series featured a detective whose technique involved breaking down suspects by boring them to death.
With his trademark raincoat and rusty umbrella, The Tranquilizer was seen as a benchmark in American drama.
Woowah, who also starred in the horror film The Licker Man, was the classically trained actor who started his carer as a bingo caller in his native Wigan.
As he disclosed in his memoirs: "I was 37 when I put away my balls. Greasepaint was the mistress I couldn't ignore. I took to the stage like a chip to a frying pan. I was hot and full of fat. It was bye-bye bingo and hello LA."
The actor, who famously wooed Carol Thatcher, will be buried this afternoon in his garden.
