Dame Vera is thrilled to be at number 1

Today sees the launch of a new game for PlayStation, X-Box and Wii players.

"Wrinkle Rock" is a new play-along game featuring the exploits of Dame Vera Lynne as she zimmer frames her way to the top of the charts with her anti-vegetarian song "Whale meat again".

Players can a opt to be a post office postmaster as other players play out the part of a 92-year old pensioner, seeking out an open post office from which to collect their pension.

On the way, she meets a number of hazards, including Johnny Rotten trying to persuade her to use butter, Simon Cowell saying that while she's sweet, she no longer has the X-Factor and Amy Winehouse who offers her a selection of French beers.

We then follow her to Luton Airport where she records a version of "There'll be Easy Jets over the white cliffs of Dover".

Equipment shipped with the game includes zimmer frames, walking sticks, varicose vein support bandages, blood pressure medication and pension books.

Although available now, priced at 48 pounds, it can still be pre-ordered from Game who like using that inane and nonsensical statement "pre-order" for everything they sell. The price will be down to 19.95 in a few weeks anyway.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
