Boston, MA Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. has signed to perform as the character 'George Jefferson' in a revival show of 1970's black television characters.

Mr. Gates Jr., currently involved in a legal dispute after breaking into his own house, has revealed that the best way he can cope emotionally is to escape into the character of George Jefferson, from the 'All In The Family' and 'The Jeffersons' television series.

Said Mr. Gates, "...I'm a black man with a chip on my shoulder the size of Manhattan. I eat this role of George Jefferson for breakfast every day."

While Professor Gates agrees that he has made quite a successful career in the academic world as a black man with a chip on his shoulder, he believes his talents have been somewhat wasted.

"I see all these rappers basically doing what I've been doing my whole life and they're making a hundred times what I've been making. It's time to get out of the ivory tower and see what the world has to offer." No word yet on whether a clothing line is in the works.

The television series will be presented on PBS stations, a network of publicly funded stations supported by 'people like you'.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
