It seems that not only have the TV cookery shows shown us how to eat great tasting food, they have taught us to eat frugally too.
Delia Smith's programme showing how to 'cheat' at cooking and Nigella Lawson's show which includes many off-the-shelf affordable ingredients have both improved the public's awareness of kitchen cost cutting and Jamie Oliver's money saving adverts for a well known supermarket have also had an effect on our culinary expenditure.
Put aside house price and interest payment drops, and reduced spending on food appears to account for the greatest reduction to inflation for many years. If the trend continues, inflation will continue to drop and the economy could get back on track.
At least then we can stop eating all this cheap rubbish at home and go for a nice meal at Gordon Ramsay's!
