A former literary agent for Paula Dean stated today that upon visiting the food writer, she found her currently living in a small trailer with a microwave oven, a pile of frozen food boxes, and a few empty take out containers.
Embarrassed, Dean tried to hide under a fold away cot and denied her identity, but when the agent did not immediately leave, she crawled out and offered up a diet soda in a plastic cup.
"It's true," she admitted, "I hate cooking and I never do it." The recipes in her books, she admitted, she either made up completely or copied from meals served to her by her friends. "But," she added, "they work; people like them; they are very palatable because I have a vivid food imagination."
When asked by the agent for a cup of tea, she apologized that she did not have any of her custom designed cookware on hand and had nothing in which to boil water.
