"To explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilisations; to boldly go where no man has gone before!"
Yes, that was the byline of the internationally famous Star Trek series, and that's exactly what crew member George Takei, real name Mr Sulu, did this week, when he married his 'partner' Brad Altman, a man, in Los Angeles.
Sulu, at 71, is old enough to be 54-year-old Altman's father, and when you take into account that the pair are also shitshovellers, you can truly say, it's a marriage made in the Heavens!
Other Star Trek crew members were also present at the luxurious event, including Lt Uhura and Chekhov, but Captain James T. Kirk refused to attend, saying he would "rather have [his] face shat upon by a negro, than be part of a gay wedding.
Sulu spoke to journalists about his husband/wife/whatever, and said:
"He's a control freak, but I'm easygoing, so we're a good fit!(guffaw)"
Everybody laughed and then the Enterprise vanished into a Time Warp.
