Actress Kiera Knightley was yesterday rushed into hospital after choking on a strand of spaghetti.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star was dining in London with her close friend and Atonement co-star James McAvoy, following their movies big win. Instead of choosing Lobster like McAvoy, Miss Knightley opted for spaghetti and meatballs, with devastating consequences.
The young star was reportedly laughing at a joke told by McAvoy when she began choking. Although she was repeatedly thumped on her rather bony back, the spaghetti appeared to be stuck tight, and after approximately 5minutes of coughing, Miss Knightley passed out, right in her dish of Spaghetti.
Doctors at the hospital, where Miss Knightley currently still is, fear the worst.
"It is devastating that such a talented young life could have been lost, through somethin' as silly as spaghetti" said Dr Graham Woodall. "Fortunately, we expect Miss Knightley to make a full recovery"
Following the incident, the government plans to start educating children on the importance of safe eating, in a bid to prevent further incidents of this type.
