TheSpoof recently reported on a reality TV show with Danica Patrick titled Women Drivers. The idea caught the attention of feminist groups and brought with it a swift and firm reaction.
Kim Gandy, president of the National Organization for Women, attacked the show: "The female gender has been targeted for abuse related to driving for far too long. Women drivers are statistically safer than men drivers, and that's been well established." Gandy also pulled no punches with regard to Danica Patrick, the female race car driver who will head up the show. "She's a tramp, flashing herself in trashy men's magazines. Putting Danica Patrick naked on TV is a disgrace to all women."
Unfortunately for Gandy, Patrick is not know for taking abuse well. After hearing about the press conference she drove over in her Ferrari and, reminiscent of her confrontation with Dan Wheldon at the Milwaukee Mile, grabbed Gandy's arm and gave her a shove.
The controversy is part of a growing buzz for the Women Drivers show, with many Hollywood insiders predicting it will be a huge success.
