The CW Network has decided to take a new gamble on an old series, bringing 7th Heaven back with Jessica Biel to star. The series ended in the spring of 2007, and CW plans to bring it back again in 2008.
Biel, widely considered the top celebrity from the show, left after creative differences with producers but came back occasionally for guest spots. As part of a deal with Biel, CW bought the rights to the show from Aaron Spelling, and the show will now push toward edgier content as desired by the actress.
The show's 12th season will center around Mary Rivera, played by Jessica Biel, who returns to the community after leaving her career as a flight attendant. During the day she takes care of her children and interacts with the family, while by night she secretly works as a stripper and prostitute.
The plotline of the season focuses on Mary's struggles with her difficult and often unpleasant line of work on the one hand, and her efforts to conceal her nightlife. This will lead to a season-ending finale where one of the show's main characters will encounter Jessica Biel naked in a compromising position with another key character. More specific details are being kept secret, with multiple endings reportedly being written and filmed.
A racier version of the show will be sold on DVD, and in the high-definition Blu-Ray format as well.
