At first it was just a student art project. An ivory soap sculpture of Barack Obama as the Savior of the World. But the art work seems to have taken on a life of its own as fanatical devotees from around the world are flocking to the Art Institute in Chicago to worship the white sculpture of the black Obama as the brown Jesus.
Everyone who is anyone is weighing in on the phenomenon. Obama himself has said that he does not remember being Jesus at any time in his past lives: "I recall being every successful American dead president. In fact it's in my resume'. But JC? I just draw a blank." Hillary Clinton, Obama's rival for the Democratic Presidential nomination, laughed derisively when she heard the rumor: "Please! That's like comparing my husband to some celibate saint! Yeah, Bill was a virgin martyr in a former life and I was a. . Joan of Arc! Actually I think that might be a possibility. . . I think I'll talk to Reagan's psychic. . ."
Chicago Cardinal "Boy" George denounced the exploitation of religious imagery for monetary and political purposes: "Jesus' image especially in Holy Week is sacred to Catholics. We reserve the right to use our trademark for fundraising and promotion of our favorite political positions"
