No shit! You think all those “Best Pictures” were the best? A movie about a talking pig was once nominated for Best Picture. Trends lead, otherwise would “Platoon” win Best if were made in a non-Vietnam-loving time? Anybody remember “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)” or “Spotlight”? So popular with their wins that no one knows what I’m talking about.
The Cannes Film Festival judges films from around the world. The Oscars only had a certain category for Best Foreign Film. Was “Kramer vs. Kramer” really the Best? Why not a genius Fellini, Antonioni, Godard, Kurosawa, etc … those are real filmmakers making amazing films, and most were ignored completely by the Oscars – which gave Best to hideous films like musicals and westerns. I think Fellini won once. ONCE!
Really? The hills are alive with the sound of bullshit. Spielberg re-makes “West Side Story” thinking he can make a remake win another Oscar, and, thus, make himself more of a god. Did anyone see that movie? And Stevie baby, a musical in 2021? Retire, old man!
