The Queen is said to be "delighted" that Helen Mirren carried off top honours at the 79th Academy awards for her portrayal of Elizabeth II. A palace spokesman said that it was by far the best film and Mirren had the Queen off to a tee pretty well. The hair was excellent! The Queen was especially pleased at the kind words at the end of Helen's acceptance speech.
Martin Scorsese, who took the award for Best Director, is said to be planning his next film about the life of Helen Mirren. The Queen has expressed her interest in playing the lead role and would consider doing nude scenes if they were artistically valid.
Prince Charles said that if this happens, it would be the first time the crown jewels have been seen outside of the Tower of London for several hundred years.
