LOS ANGELES (UPI) -- After the uproar raised over Madonna's adoption of 13-month old David from the impoverished country of Malawi, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have abandoned their plan of adopting an Indian baby and instead have filed to adopt the children of Britney Spears who has just launched divorce proceedings against husband Kevin Federline.
Brangelina visited the Indian orphanage and formally cancelled their application to adopt the Indian baby, and then they applied by fax to adopt Britney's two sons who are now up for adoption so Britney can revive her singing career is Las Vegas and elsewhere.
While speaking to Britain's Newsy Magazine, Brangelina stated, "No one wants to be dragged through the heartache that Madonna has. It's a real shame. There are plenty of deprived kids in North America that need adoption...just look at the family of Britney Spears. It is so heartbreaking."
Jolie-Pitt have a daughter Shiloh Nouvel who was born this past May, and have already adopted two other children: the 5 year old Maddox adopted in 2002 from a Cambodian orphanage and Zahara Marley Jolie, a baby girl adopted in 2005 from Ethiopia.
The addition of Britney's two sons to the growing Brangelina household would form a "rainbow family" according to Brad Pitt, and will bring the total number of children up to five.
Brangelina hope to adopt other unwanted children from stars in the music industry or Hollywood.
Yet Federline has already filed for custody of his children with Spears in the divorce proceedings, as well for spousal support payments. An ugly custody battle could well ensue.
Madonna has also shown interest in adopting Britney's kids and is reportedly ready to file for custody.
