Top TV scientist, Alice Roberts, is said to be fuming today over how she is presented in the news media.
Her wrath was initially incurred by an item on popular news website, TheSpoof, which - not for the first time - reported on one set of the professor's fans who nurture a desire for her to "get her kit off".
Said a source unlikely ever to have met the presenter: "She would have been furious that the Spoof article called her simply 'Dr' when was made a professor by Birmingham University this year. I would have been - wouldn't you?"
But things apparently got worse when she saw a Daily Telegraph preview of her documentary Woolly Mammoth: Secrets From The Ice, which screens on BBC2 tonight.
The preview opens with: "The unfeasibly young-looking Professor Alice Roberts (she's 38)..."
"What's her age got to do with anything?" Said a member of the public in Westgate, Wakefield, who admitted to never having met her. "She's probably a bit annoyed about that - and anyway, what should she look like at 38? I'm 47 but my friends say you wouldn't know to look at me."
