Hollywood is coming to Portsmouth as one of the most anticipated musical movies ever, Les Miserables, is to be shot in the historic port.
Location scouts are looking at sites in the city and in Winchester. The dockyard is set to provide a major backdrop for many scenes.
Aussie stars Russell Gladiator Crowe and Hugh X-Men Jackman are already signed to take the leads in the adaptation of the Victor Hugo novel, but producers are now looking for hundreds of local men to be extras.
"We're looking for anyone over the age of 16 to play a variety of roles from peasants to military guys in 19th century France." Said a spokesman for the casting agency. "We're looking to film in Portsmouth and we want to use local people."
Said local man, Norman Greep: "Casting for Les Miserables? Just wait outside Fratton Park after the match on Saturday!"
