Energy companies, like banks are famous for brown-nosing the government to meet their objectives. Not long ago of course gas and electricity were government run but since they have been sold off to europe, Fritz and Pierre have learnt that 'preaching green' on behalf of the host state buys an awful lot of BMWs and Citroens.
Brits are said to be outraged that 'these suited frogs' have turned up in the UK, bought our Olympics for favours and painted the Union Jack green.
"Imagine if British Gas pitched up in Paris and painted the 'tricolor' green? They'd be pelted with onions!" - said one.
The new government has admitted - "It's ironic EDF telling us 'it's not easy being green, there will be set backs but we can win...etc' - what a load of old cobblers. They've got a carbon footprint the size of burgundy and that buys them a lot of wine. Renewables buy them about a clove of garlic."
"Then there's the other lot who tell us 'Ve vant you to use less energyz' - what a load of old nonsense, who do they take us for?"
An EDF insider said "Labour loved all our green stuff but the tories don't buy it. We're going to change our marketing material to Hothouse Flowers' - 'I can see Nuclear now the acid rain has started'."
