A Hull man living in the Thai eastern seaboard resort of Pattaya, was so completely stressed-out by a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course, that he went into a supermarket and bought a packet of Nori Seaweed crisps by mistake.
The glaring mistake occurred as the under-pressure man, Moys Kenwood, went into the Big C store in Pattaya Tai on Tuesday afternoon, contemplating a particularly daunting exam the next day.
He approached a basket of packets of crisps in a green pack - just like Walkers Salt and Vinegar in the UK - selected one, proceeded to the checkout, and paid 50 Baht for them.
It was only when Kenwood emerged from the store into the 33°C sunshine, opened the pack and bit into the tasty crispy treats, that he realised the magnitude of his howler.
He said:
"It was like eating bloody seaweed. I was starving though, so I finished them off, then went home for a cup of tea."
A spokesperson for Lays, a subsidiary of Pepsico International, who make the nasty crisps, told us:
"It's clearly stated on the pack what the flavour is. This is just another example of a dumb Brit not looking what he was doing."
