LAFAYETTE, Louisiana - The Popeye's Chicken Fast Food Franchise is proud to announce that it has just opened the first of many Olive Oyl's Chicken Drive Thru Window Stores.
The first Olive Oyl is located in Lafayette, Louisiana and there were roughly about 90 vehicles waiting in line at the five drive thru lanes.
Geneva "Chicky" Queensberry, spokesperson for the parent franchise chain Popeye's, stated that the concept of the Olive Oyl's is that they are strictly drive thru.
There are no tables or seats inside for patrons to sit down and eat at. The company felt that the Olive Oyl stores will provide a service to individuals and families who just may not want to get dressed to go and eat inside a restaurant.
In fact test studies showed that about 23 percent of the drive thru patrons actually showed up in their vehicles dressed in their pajamas or in some cases their underwear.
SIDENOTE: Miss Queensberry stated that the executives at Popeye's Chicken eventually say they will have Olive Oyl's Chicken Drive Thru Window Stores in every state but Alaska.
