The Dean of St Paul's Cathedral in London has seen the light and had an extraordinary conversion! Speaking to the officials of the Church Commissioners he said he now realised 'the vital part the capitalist system plays in the running of the church' and would do his best to see the end of the protest outside the Cathedral.
A Church Commissioner explained that investments in the city by the church were being endangered by those who wished to end the present economic structure. 'We must therefore, with a heavy heart, set about getting the protesters removed from the location of St Paul's Cathedral as soon as possible.'
One of those involved with the protest against the City shrugged his shoulders and said 'They know which side their bread is buttered on, at least for the present moment. But soon with the end of capitalism they will have to depend on the support of people not the City.'
I put these points to the Dean who stated his public duty was to maintain St Paul's Cathedral and he would take all steps to do so. 'Health and Safety must be paramount: My health and my safety.'
