I remember that in 1943, while I was still in seminary, I was drafted into the German anti-aircraft corps as Luftwaffenhelfer (air force child soldier). Later I was trained in the German infantry.

I record this, in an effort to convince doubters, of my ability to empathise with and understand the common people, their fears, needs, and emotions.

Now, where's my laity with my breakfast?
