Queen Elizabeth I would have watched Shakespeare's plays in the privacy of her own court.

One and my family have been far more public in our participation at the Games.

It seemed things could get no better for One's monarchy, basking in the glow of an adoring nation after One's glittering Diamond Jubilee celebrations this summer and the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011.

But it's all still a bore at my age!
