Queen Elizabeth II - My Fake Diary
Wednesday, 8 August 2012
One couldn't help but retell this story One's fifth maids second assistant told me:
One: "My dear Philip, what is that racket coming from the grounds?"
Prince Philip: "I believe that's the Olympic beach volleyball competition. They're competing at the Horse Guards Parade."
One: "Is that the sport where they bounce around all scantily clad and whatnot? That hardly seems regal to me."
Prince Philip, smiling: "Yes, mum, bronzed young ladies in bikinis, mum. It is all very atrocious and an outrage to the Royal Family. They are playing beach blanket bingo within your backyard. It's terrible, mum, terrible.''
Prince Philip gets up to leave.
One: "So where do you think you're going, my boy?"
Prince Philip: "Beach volleyball, mum!"
