Nick C Legg - My Fake Diary
Sunday, 26 August 2012
I have met with Cornish MPs and councillors in a drive to move power out of London.
They asked me to back a "Cornwall Deal", giving the region more control over housing, health and economic development, as well as more funding to carry out new roles.
Similar "City Deals" have been awarded to Manchester, Leeds and Bristol. Cornwall is unlikely to be included in a second wave of such arrangements, designed for urban authorities, but local advocates have said Cornwall could pioneer the concept in rural areas.
Those at the meeting - including representatives of Cornwall Council, the Cornish Constitutional Convention and three MPs - said government officials had been instructed to help draw up initial proposals.
The council, the NHS and the Local Enterprise Partnership are to be involved.
That is Cameron permitting of course!
