I told Parliament that anything other than an independent inquiry into the Peter Cruddas affair will leave "a permanent stain" on the Government and David Cameron. And added that access to David Cameron was being offered to Conservative Party benefactors represented "the gravest allegations!"
Then I remembered Assem Allam, the businessman who wants Labour backing for a multi-million-pound property deal, and gave me a ride in his Rolls-Royce during a no-expense-spared visit to his football club has given the party a £100,000 donation...
