Organisers have "specially created" a part for me in Friday's Olympics opening ceremony, set to be watched by a global audience of four billion.

I'm really excited and delighted at being involved in the Olympics. It is in his home city so it couldn't get any better. It's going to be very special."

An Olympics source said: "David will have a starring role in the games and he is excited at the prospect. Meetings will be held this week. It's going to be a big, big surprise. His presence on the campaign trail was seen as a key factor in the final days of lobbying alongside Lord Coe and then PM Tony Blair."

There will be a Galaxy of stars... Galaxy? Get it?
