THE SPECTRUM'S BEST MOMENTS.

May, 1974 - the Flyers Win the Stanley Cup.
They would go on to win the Cup in 1975, f--k up in 1976, and then suck for 35-odd years thereafter.

March, 1992 - Christian Laettner Hits the Shot Heard 'Round the World at the 1992 NCAA East Regionals-Duke vs. Kentucky
With two seconds remaining in a tightly contest game to advance to the NCAA Final Four, Kentucky's Sean Wood hits a bank shot to give the Wildcats a one-point lead. After a timeout, Duke's Grant Hill is left unguarded and he flings the inbounds pass 80-feet down the court to a leaping Christian Laettner, who is near the foul line with his back to the basket. The 6'11" senior takes one dribble, fakes right, turns to his left and hits a 17-foot jumper giving Duke a 104-13 victory and its fifth consecutive trip to the Big Dance. It was the last jump shot Laettner ever, even though he played in the NBA for two sucktastic seasons.

January, 1976 - The Flyers Defeat the Soviet All-Star Team.
Fighting for capitalist pigs world-wide, the Flyers beat the Soviets 4-1, and beat the sh-t out of them while doing so: 11 Soviet players were injured in the first two periods. After the second period, the Soviets walked off the ice and refused to come back. Meanwhile, Moscow launched two interconintental nuclear warheads at the city. Both actually struck Camden, NJ, so no one cared.

July, 1972 - The Rolling Stones Perform with Stevie Wonder.
The two legends collaborated on a sensational rendition of "I Can't Get No Satisfaction." Stevie was later lead to the restrooms, where the powerful odor temporarily returned his sight.

October, 1973 - Kate Smith sings "God Bless America" live.
She then set a single fat-ass record for eating 825 hot dogs in 1/2 hour.

January, 1983 - Dr. J's Windmill Dunk Over Michael Cooper.
Cooper was so embarrassed afterward he left the NBA and became a multi-millionaire as a real-estate developer. So take that, f--ker.

December, 1979 - Darryl Dawkins vs. the Backboard.
Having already shattered one backboard at Kansas City in November of 1979, Darryl Dawkins did it again, this time in the Spectrum, against the San Antonio Spurs. The only difference was this time, four orphan children at the game were eviscerated by flying glass. Darryl once recalled, "I moved in, attacked the basket, and BOOM! The whole rim came down. And some kids died, I think. But, yeah... BOOM!"

May, 1977 - Elvis Presley Performs Final Philadelphia Show.
His final performance ever --straining a fried chicken-fueled constipation-dump at home in Memphis-- occurred just months later.

March, 1973 - Olga Korbut Performs.
I think she was an ice-skater.

May, 1980 - Magic Johnson Scores 40 Points Playing Every Position.
In the midst of the 1980 NBA Finals, Los Angeles Lakers Magic Johnson starts the game at center for the injured Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He would eventually play every position in what has been called "the greatest game of his career," scoring 42 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. God, a Sixers fan, later smote him with AIDS.

February, 1978 - Billy Graham Retains WWF Title in Steel Cage.
He then returned to preaching.

April, 1976 - Luciano Pavarotti makes historic debut at the Spectrum.
Side-note: His presence at the Rectum made him the 1,425,669th Italian person in a three-block radius around Broad and Packer Avenue.

March, 1968 - The World's Biggest Kite is launched at the Spectrum.
The media reported it as the Spectrum roof blowing off, but we know the truth. Sadly, none of the Ice Capades performers skating that day were killed. Get 'em next time, Philly.

October, 1994 - Grateful Dead Perform 50th Show at the Spectrum.
Every single attendee illegaly recorded the concert, and tapes still sell at flea-markets nationwide.

June, 1973 - Springsteen Booed off the Stage. Bruce Springsteen opens for Chicago at the Spectrum and is booed off the stage.
Hahahahaha. HahahahahaHAHAHAHAHA!!! Sorry, sorry.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
