Cowes - (Local Mess): An Isle of Wight man has become an online sensation after US rap star Kanye West began following him on social nitworking site Twitter.
Ventnor Alms Houses resident Reggie Postlethwaite, 69, was said to be gobsmacked yesterday to find that West was following him on the tweeting site.
The sexagenarian's astonishment has grown exponentially in the last 24 hours after West, 33, admitted Postlethwaite was the first and only person he would be following since joining the site last month.
Even more curiously the retired local trading standards office maggot inspector has suddenly found himself inundated with over 20,000 requests by potential gangsta-rapper followers.
"All this attention is doing my head in," Reggie told pals at his local the Half-Cock Inn today.
"It's not like Westie is after my seminal knowledge of larval infestations, either.
"Perish the thought that it's actually my body behind all this sudden interest..."
The online sensation's latest tweets include advice on keeping garbage in sealed containers during the hot weather and some personal preferences in over-the-counter bug sprays that can be used to deter both flies and maggots.
