Alan Houston is building a rocket in his backyard because he believes the world will end in December 2012. He has seen documentaries about planet X or the planet Niburi that is apparently heading this way according to many writers who have discovered the prophecies of the Mayans.

I interviewed Mr Houston yesterday at his home in Texas and he explained his reasons for building a rocket.

"The world is going to end in 2012 and I am going to escape in my rocket and fly to the moon, I am convinced that planet X is going to destroy the world in 2012 when it comes to close to earth it will cause earthquakes, tidal waves, tsunamis and destroy all life on earth. My rocket will be finished by November 2012 when I will leave earth and go and live on the moon."

I explained that even if he was right about the destruction of the earth he could not live on the moon because it has no atmosphere and in any event if the earth was destroyed there would be nothing to hold the moon in orbit so it would drift off into outer space.

He does not seem to understand these basic scientific facts and is determined to go to the moon.

It only remains to be seen will Houston be ready for take off.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
