RAWALPINDI - PAKISTAN - Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson and Inspector Lestrade arrived in Pakistan yesterday where they will head the investigation into Benazir Bhutto's sudden death.
Inspector Lestrade, Scotland Yard's top detective has already put together a team of local sleuths drawn from the famous Koi Hai ( "anybody out there?") Khyber Pass North-West Frontier Detective agency.
The post-mortem will be conducted by Dr. Watson assisted by the ever-capable Mrs. Hudson.
As he scrutinized the few clues available, an unflappable Holmes cautioned: "The temptation to form premature theories upon insufficient data is the bane of our profession."
At a press conference, where Pakistani papparazzi feasted on plates of Mrs. Hudson's freshly baked scones, the ultimate cryptanalyst laid out some of his early findings including the strange hieroglyphic ciphers chalked out at the crime scene.
When asked if he would solve the crime the craggy crime-solver barked: "Aha! It is the curious incident of the dog in the night-time"
"What is curious about it?" pleaded the local reporters.
Retorted Holmes, "The dog had done nothing; the dog did not bark. And that was what made the incident curious!"
A smug, self-satisfied Musharraf appeared on national tv to "share the good news of dogs who do not bark at night!"
