Italy announced earlier today that in response to Egypt's move to copyright the pyramids Italy is going to move to copyright not only their monuments but also the alphabet. Whereas their claim is tenuous at best they say that they would set the royalties at a very low one penny per letter and donate the space to the public domain.
In NJ, Governor Corzine is considering copyrighting the "one way" which originated at the Jersey shore. Saying in a statement this morning that it would be an economic boon for the State and aid in the payment of our public debt and of course our state will be exempt.
Yet while it is still unclear how any of these new copyright royalty payments will be enforced upon other sovereign nations One thing is becoming very clear and that is that copyright reform will be an issue well into this century.
