Santiago, Chile - (UnbelieveablyTacky Mess): In a deal brokered by their defence attorney Michael Caplan QC the McCanns' story is being touted in Chile where a TV soap production team headed by scriptwriter Pablo Illanes plans to broadcast it next year.
London Barrister Caplan, 51, famously acted as legal counsel for Chile's former genocidal dictator Augusto Pinochet.
His PR skills are believed to have been instrumental in the hiring of the show's director Maria Eugenia Rencoret as well as the casting of movie star Alvaro Rudolphy to play Gerry McCann.
Auditions for other roles including that of Kate McCann are under way.
UK media sources are far from happy about the news however and have pointed out that the recently announced Chilean TV team's most famous offering, Alguien te mira - 'Somebody Is Watching You', is centered around a serial killer doctor who murders women and cuts out their hearts.
"Whatever next? A Hollywood blockbuster movie starring Anthony 'Silence of the Lambs' Hopkins as Gerry McCann?"
