Popular TV character Tinky Winky will join Right Said Fred lead singer Richard Fairbrass in Poland's first Gay Pride rally. At least fourteen other people are expected to attend to support the banner waving duo including gay rights leader Peter Tatchell and famous gay flamingos Carlos and Fernando.
In contrast the 40,000 strong Russian neo-nazi anti-gay lobby has pledged to send a representative group of around 2,000 people. They will be joined by Local Polish communities who intend to line the streets of the planned Gay Pride march in a silent protest.
We interviewed 87 year old Polish stalwart Stanislav Wrywinivsczywbryzs who has camped out to get a place at the start of the march. He told our translator,"I wanted a place at the start of the march as I reckon they will only get about four feet, I have placed a bet on four feet-7 inches and hope to emerge from this rally a rich man."
We noticed other silent protesters jealously guarding tape measures along the route.
Tinky Winky has said earlier today that he feels that the March will have an important place in history, he also commented, "Besides I'm well padded, Richard is going to get panned."
