We've all been late for something in our lives - school, work, an interview, the start of a movie, a first date, or the bus - and there are various ways of dealing with these, but two schoolgirls were obviously late with their revision homework this morning, and had decided to do it on their way to school - whilst riding a motorbike!
The incident took place in central Tapon about 6:31 am, when the road is usually awash with cars, motorbikes, vans, big trucks overloaded with earth, bicycles and cows going to work.
The two girls in question - aged about 16 - were rider and pillion passenger on a cool-looking white and green Honda Wave motorcycle that is designed to be ridden whilst watching the road ahead with your eyes. The muppet in control of the bike, however, was not complying with this safety advice.
Whilst her friend - riding sidesaddle - read aloud from a book she was holding, the 'driver' held her own book in her left hand, and followed the reading as she rode. Her lips were moving as if she were silently mouthing the words. She punctuated this with regular cursory glances at the road up ahead to ascertain as to whether or not Death was in the vicinity.
Local safety expert, Moys Kenwood, said:
"This was top-notch muppetry. They passed us doing about forty. Clowns!"
Neither girl was wearing a helmet. They tend to make a mess of their hair.
