Australia, keen to lose its Barbecue and Beers image has assembled a cultural fact finding team to "find out what this culture lark is".
The team will visit selected countries with what it imagines to have a more impressive global Intellectual presence. A short list is thought to include Cerebral cultures like Gambia, Afghanistan and Argentina.
"We thought about building another weird Opera House, said a spokesperson today, but we want people to come here for literature and art too. We are going to get some arty things, not just Rolf Harris stuff, good though it is and entice a few writers here from some of the countries on our agenda. We need proper museums too, not just coffee bean museums and museums of boomerangs but museums like other countries have.
