France - A supergrass in a complex French fraud case who wants to cut a Prosecution deal says he has proof Princess Diana's decapitated head 'was bolted on to a French woman's torso' and buried in haste to avoid 'the horrible truth'.
Paris undertaker's son Gaston Froufrou blames mean old skinflint Prince Charles for the deception after HRH was quoted tens of thousands of pounds for Diana's casket preparation.
Apparently some embalming liquid spilled onto the Princess' expensive designer dress as she lay in her coffin awaiting transportation back to the UK.
However in a casket right next to her was one Madame Laurent, RIP, wearing a very similar, $25,000 Dior confection of shot purple silk with satin trim.
The acid had eaten away some of Diana's frock and half her upper chest area following a lab accident.
"Of course it was all Charles' own idea," Froufrou explained, "he just told the senior mortician to do the decent thing and swap the women's heads around."
The claims will now be examined as Paris gendarmes prepare to exhume hapless Madame Laurent's tragic remains.
