Athens = In a surprise move Greek officials today announced they are claiming a patent on Greek salads. They will demand royalties be paid on every Greek salad made by every restaurant in the world, beginning immediately and retroactive to 1950.
"This will not only solve our debt crisis," said Polomos Agapetos, "It will put us in the black by 9.3 Trillion euros...once we collect of course. We are then considering how to collect royalties on each and every salad made. We are not greedy, we intend only to take what is fair."
Greek officials have applied for the patent, but feel their request will be acted upon and are hoping to have revenue flowing ahead of the next European Economic Summit.
