Colvin: retro pirate look

London - Images of a woman wearing a black eye patch were described today as non-piratical despite some obvious comments.

Apparently reporter Marie Colvin only posed in the fetching Yasser Arafat-esque eye patch 'to appease Somali pirate sympathisers' in the Middle East, if a former Gunday Times sub-editor is to be believed.

"Yeah, that Eyeless In Gaza look is so retro!" Reggie Sans Serif commented quoting knowledgeably from John Milton's Samson Agonistes**

Colvin and French photographer Remi Ochlik were caught up in heavy shelling at a Baba Amr makeshift media centre and perished along with dozens of locals.

The war reporter once joked she'd be making a bid for Johnny Depp's Pirates of the Caribbean eye patch in a celebrity auction to raise funds for the rescue of some hostages taken by Modadishu renegades.

Colleagues said today she'll be sorely missed.

** Promise was that I/Should Israel from Philistian yoke deliver/ Ask for this great deliverer now, and find him/Eyeless in Gaza at the Mill with slaves...
