Poznan - A Polish military prosecutor is said to be recovering well amid early reports 'he shot himself in the foot' after a news conference.
Colonel Mikolaj Przybyl took a 'comfort break' after telling reporters the reputation of the Polish armed farces was sacrosanct.
The attorney has been in charge of defending the military's role in a probe into media leaks about the 2010 air crash that killed President Kaczynski.
This afternoon newshounds said they'd heard the sound of gunfire from an adjoining restroom and found Przybyl lying on the floor in a pool of blood.
Doctors at Poznan General Hospital later confirmed that the Colonel had actually shot himself in the head using his trusty Polish service revolver.
UK TV news reports have said the hospital diagnosis is that Colonel Przybyl is now stable and is expected to make a complete recovery.
"Of course, his legal career may now switch to a stint in satire," a colleague who wishes to remain anonymous chuckled bravely.
