You can usually rely on America for a headline and this one is certainly a contender.
Country & Western singer Garth Proops, 57, has no ears but it hasn't stopped him writing and recording a full album of songs which have now won critical acclaim at the Annual Country And Western Awards in Flapjack, Ohio.
Organiser Randy Biscuits said 'Garth's a true musical genius. He doesn't need ears. Sometimes ears can be a bit overrated.'
His growing army of fans seem to agree. Devotee Shereen Bopopular, who had travelled from Barbados just for the Award Ceremony said 'I called Garth up to congratulate him before I left, but he didn't answer.'
Another fan, Muriel Harbinger, from Dallas, added hastily, ' it's not because he was being ignorant Shereen, he just doesn't have a phone.'
It's a wonderful story and Garth is quite rightly very proud of the award, even though he's never heard the record.
