Makers of several popular brands of rider mowers are jumping on the band wagon and retrofitting their most popular models with dual beer can holders to accommodate the beverages of the users of their products.
The reason for this change in design is clearly the fact that more and more of their customers are using their rider mowers to make beer runs to the local Jiffy Marts instead of taking the family sedan. Said one such customer, "I already have two DUI's, one more and I'm a habitual offender and could lose my license for life. I can't afford that as I'm the car pool driver to take my kids and their friends to soccer practice every other Thursday, and the other parents may frown upon me if they knew I was driving under a suspended or revoked license."
Retrofitting the rider mowers with the beer can holders makes it safer for users to put their beers down when trying to maneuver the mowers in heavy traffic. Having both hands free to steer the tractor safely has, and continues to be, a major concern of the rider mowers manufacturers.
Said one company spokesperson, "Whether the customer is on his own property enjoying a beer while mowing the lower 48, or he's on his last can of beer and toddling on down to his local convenience store for another 12-pack, having a place to put his open container is uppermost in our minds. Our customers' safety and convenience is tantamount to having a mower that mows grass. They spoke and we listened."
Would that every company listened when their customers came up with such ingenious plans to make a product more user friendly.
