In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kay Perry was asked how she felt about going on national television and admitting to millions that she suffers from acne in a commercial she shot for Proactiv Acne Solution.
"When they first asked me to do the commercial, I was so like, no way am I going to seriously tell millions of Americans that I, Katy Perry, have acne. But then, like I was totally like, why not, it's money, you know? So I agreed to do it.
"And afterwards, I can't explain it but it felt so liberating to admit that I had a few flaws. I never realized I had flaws before and then they showed me in the mirror, 'look Katy, you have acne,' and I was like OMG!"
Katy was then asked if she would have a problem endorsing any other products that are on most people's "embarrassing personal items" list, and she replied, "no, not at all. Although I am young and don't really know what hemorrhoids are, I understand from the commercials that they are a painful and embarrassing problem, so yeah, sure, I would so totally do a Preparation-H commercial if I ever developed them.
"Heck, I'm even thinking of sporting one of those cool retro yellow bathing suits and doing a few spots for NuvaRing, if my manager can get me the gig. I mean, if I can talk about something as gross as acne on television, why shouldn't I be able to talk about something as personal as my choice for birth control as well?"
